Hi,explorer.exe is putting my PC to sleep during the night. Energy parameters are set to high performance and the PC should never go to sleep: is this a windows 8.1 issue or more likely a virus or driver issue (iPhone/ITunes is the main suspect) Regards Remco

Win. 8.1, my windows media player network process( on task mangler ) plays commercials that I am not, or would not sit through. I can be watching a short vid, and the commercial comes on at the same time as the video. What gives and how can I kill this infuriating demon?

Hi Pat,Looks like some others are having the same issues. Try checking out this thread of users discussing the same problems. -us/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_update/windows-81-stuck-keep-your-pc-plugged-in-until/cfc8dac3-1a64-4ae4-a37b-6eab57c3ab26?auth=1

In the Internet Options windows, tap or click the Advanced tab. Locate the check box Enable Enhanced Protected Mode. Tap or click to uncheck the box.

If the procedure that corresponds to your operating system does not resolve your issue, go to Fix Wi-Fi connection issues in windows. The guidance that's offered there will help you identify network connection issues and run automated troubleshooters to fix the issues.

One of the worst aspects of Windows 8 for power users is that the product's very name has become a misnomer. "Windows" no longer supports multiple windows on the screen. Win8 does have an option to temporarily show a second area in a small part of the screen, but none of our test users were able to make this work. Also, the main UI restricts users to a single window, so the product ought to be renamed "Microsoft Window."

The single-window strategy works well on tablets and is required on a small phone screen. But with a big monitor and dozens of applications and websites running simultaneously, a high-end PC user definitely benefits from the ability to see multiple windows at the same time. Indeed, the most important web use cases involve collecting, comparing, and choosing among several web pages, and such tasks are much easier with several windows when you have the screen space to see many things at once.

If you are downloading the JDK installer for 64-bit systems for update 9 Minor 1, Security 1, and Patch 1, then the file name jdk-9.minor.security.patch_windows-x64_bin.exe becomes jdk-9.1.1.1_windows-x64_bin.exe.

If you are downloading the JRE installer for 64-bit systems for update 9 Minor 1, Security 1, and Patch 1, then the file name jre-9.minor.security.patch_windows-x64_bin.exe becomes jre-9.1.1.1_windows-x64_bin.exe.

The following table lists example installation scenarios and the commands required to perform them. The notation jdk stands for the downloaded installer file base name, such as jdk-9_windows-x64_bin.exe.

One of the easiest and most effective ways to fix the Windows 11 touchpad not working issue is to restart your PC. Every time you restart your PC, all system services will be restarted, automatically fixing most problems. However, since the touchpad is not working, you will need to use an external mouse to navigate the UI.

Files such as word, excel, pdf, zip or powerpoint may encounter corrupted problems accidentally, such as powerpoint not opening, blank pdf, cannot open zip file or excel stuck at opening file 0%, etc. But don't worry, here will provide some solutions for you.

I retargeted the solution as it said, and the problem persisted, even though the retargetting was completed.I decided to install visual studio 2017 because of this, and, lo and behold, it did the exact same thing.I'm also using windows 7.

Despite being an incredibly popular operating system, there are plenty of Windows 10 bugs. Whether that's issues with booting, upgrading, privacy protection, storage management, or Windows 10 update problems the system, be it for cyber security or functionality reasons, you will still find yourself running into problems that seem insurmountable.

The nine windows technique is defined as a method for exploring issues and their potential impacts by examining the past, present, and future of both high-level areas and their related subsections. This technique is often used as a way to ensure companies change and evolve without relying on past tactics that might not work as well in the present world.

Each of the above causes can be improved using nine windows. This tool prompts organizations and teams to explore a problem in the past (and possible future) at both the super-system and subsystem levels, instead of thinking about the problem only in terms of the present and at the system level. As organizations and teams extend their thinking about the problem to view it in new and different contexts that are systemic and time-oriented, these groups are better able to break free of psychological inertia and find solutions increases.

Once the team has explored the problem and the system in the present, move on to the past and the future. To do so, list everything one could do in the past to prevent the problem in the Past/Subsystem cell. Then, list everything one can do in the future (if the problem still exists) in the Future/Subsystem cell. Explore all nine windows by asking:

Nine windows can be a valuable planning tool for human systems issues like team building, personal development, and leadership. The example in Figure 2 demonstrates the use of nine windows in planning for safety improvement.

This example uses multiple timelines, but companies and teams can choose the timeline they want, selecting a specific date or leaving the dates open in the past and future. Once the nine windows plan is developed, the team can then plan and explore solutions to improve safety performance.

Automatic update is one of the possible reasons behind getting Windows ready stuck in windows 10/8/7. If your computer finally boots properly, you can disable Automatic Updates in Windows in case the getting windows ready stuck error happens again.

At the Build Conference in April 2014, Microsoft's Terry Myerson unveiled an updated version of Windows 8.1 (build 9697) that added the ability to run Windows Store apps inside desktop windows and a more traditional Start menu in place of the Start screen seen in Windows 8. The new Start menu takes after Windows 7's design by using only a portion of the screen and including a Windows 7-style application listing in the first column. The second column displays Windows 8-style app tiles. Myerson said that these changes would occur in a future update, but did not elaborate.[33][34] Microsoft also unveiled the concept of a "universal Windows app", allowing Windows Store apps created for Windows 8.1 to be ported to Windows Phone 8.1 and Xbox One while sharing a common codebase, with an interface designed for different device form factors, and allowing user data and licenses for an app to be shared between multiple platforms. Windows Phone 8.1 would share nearly 90% of the common Windows Runtime APIs with Windows 8.1 on PCs.[33][35][36][37]

A new iteration of the Start menu is used on the Windows 10 desktop, with a list of places and other options on the left side, and tiles representing applications on the right. The menu can be resized, and expanded into a full-screen display, which is the default option in Tablet mode.[42][62][73] A new virtual desktop system was added by a feature known as Task View, which displays all open windows and allows users to switch between them, or switch between multiple workspaces.[42][62] Universal apps, which previously could be used only in full screen mode, can now be used in self-contained windows similarly to other programs.[42][62] Program windows can now be snapped to quadrants of the screen by dragging them to the corner. When a window is snapped to one side of the screen, Task View appears and the user is prompted to choose a second window to fill the unused side of the screen (called "Snap Assist").[62] The Windows system icons were also changed.[73] 2ff7e9595c
